Nelson Volunteer Coalition

The Nelson Volunteer Coalition provides transportation, financial management, personal care services, meals and home repair services to name a few. The NVC addresses these needs by connecting people in need with those who can offer a helping hand. More than 80% of the coalition's clients are seniors with the remainder being families and disabled adults.
There is no cost for these services.
We help in many ways such as . . .

Providing transportation to medical appointments
Visiting with a home-bound or ill person
Preparing and delivering occasional meals
Reading to a person
Shopping for someone who is unable
Providing reassurance calls
Helping with light housekeeping
Writing letters
Helping with bills and paperwork
Arranging pro-bono professional assistance
Doing simple yard chores
Helping with minor home maintenance
Just being a neighborly good friend

Beneficiaries include low-income residents, the elderly and the disabled who need assistance in maintaining a minimum quality of life (food, medications, access to medical and dental care and a decent and safe place to live).
